FABULOUS FLOORS Magazine Sold to Fabulous Floors LLC

Investors in new publishing company include employees, original publishing team

GHENT, NY -- FABULOUS FLOORS Magazine, the first consumer publication devoted solely to flooring as a key element of interior design, has been sold by Peachtree Communications to Fabu-lous Floors LLC.

The sale was effective November 8, 2010 Terms of the sale remain confidential.

The new publishing company will expand the operation by opening a headquarters office in Georgia along with the original New York office.

The sale comes about six months after the unexpected passing of one of the two FABULOUS FLOORS Magazine founders, Publisher and Editor Sonna Calandrino.

“It became clear that my heart was not in the magazine any more,” Howland said, “but it became clear that the new company FABULOUS FLOORS, LLC led by Publisher, Deborah Funk, and her partner, Executive Vice President & Managing Editor, Margo Locust have not only the same vision of the magazine as Sonna, but also complementary plans and energies to make them happen.

“From the perspective of Sonna’s family and business associates, it was clearly time for someone to take FABULOUS FLOORS Magazine to the next level,” he added.

“At the time Sonna died, we said the magazine would continue, and it has, for two issues. That has been partially under the original management structure for Summer and partly with the new owners and their team. As part of the transition and during negotiations the new owners became solely re-sponsible for the Fall 2010 edition now on newsstands,” said Richard Howland, co-founder and act-ing publisher.

According to Howland, as founding publisher and fixture in the flooring industry, Sonna Calandrino was familiar with Funk professionally, given her professional associations with Amtico and IVC, Sonna knew that Debbie had the same sense of what the magazine could become.

“Margo Locust had been an employee and friend of Sonna’s for more than 25 years. Margo was a trusted associate and as Sonna’s health failed she was relied on for more and more of the daily op-erations of the magazine. When Margo asked me if Peachtree would entertain an offer to purchase the magazine, everything fell into place.”

Locust said,” our team that compiles content, designs, produces and distributes Fabulous Floors is very enthusiastic and excited about the direction the magazine is going in.”

“We plan to expand existing sections, add new categories, redesign the website and introduce new distribution initiatives. Social media will become an integral part of our business plan as we build Fabulous Floors to be a number one source of flooring information for consumers, retailers and de-signers.” said Funk
